What a service report should include
A good service report lets you see months later what was done to a machine and when. It should include:
- customer and service company details, the technician’s name
- machine identification: model, serial number, asset or fleet number
- the date and the start and finish time of the work
- type of work: periodic inspection, repair, commissioning, diagnostics
- a checklist with the result of each item (OK, not OK, not applicable)
- the reported issue, faults found and work carried out
- parts and materials used
- recommendations and the next inspection date
- the machine’s condition after the work: fit for operation, not fit, or fit with conditions
- signatures of the technician and the customer
